GTA is a casual/hardcore game since the PSX era (I am not sure if the series started on PC). A game is not casual or hardcore per se, the gamer who play it is the one who should be labeled casual or hardcore. GTA is a success among kids and teenagers (and adults of course). The difference is that casual players never do anything more in GTA than kill hookers, cops and steal cars. It is the truth, I have heard from several people that GTA have no objeticves (they do not know the purpose of the game is to finish the missions). Those casual GTA players play GTA like they play some sports game, they do not try to complete objectives, they play for fun.
