The different endings in JRPGs are usually dependent upon something completely arbitrary - completing the game more than once, getting a few special (but unrelated to the story) items, exploring the world 100%, or whatever. They aren't dependent upon any player involvement in the story, since there is no player involvement in the story of most JRPGs.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."
