I don't think the Wii is as reliant on game releases to drive sales, at least compared to the 360 or PS3. The Wii has the ability to expand into non-traditional gaming demographics. These are people who might not even know about the Wii until they get hands on experience with it. That is the advantage the Wii has over the 360 and PS3. The Wii has mass market appeal. I know a lot of people who would never in a million years want to play GoW or Resistance or any of the hardcore gaming hits. But show them Wii Sports and they will be hooked. And few parents will have issues with their kids playing Wii Sports, unlike the more violent best sellers. It's one of the few best selling games where I can see entire families having fun at the same time.
