We moderate when we are online, we don't have to be on at any point we just come and go as we please and we have enough mods to have a good coverage throughout the day.  If I was sitting here hitting refresh then I might agree...but as it is? Not so much. 

Now if they start adding quotas for time online for mods or article submissions for contributors then I would expect to be paid.  But as it is I was asked to help and told up front no $$...so it would be kind of lame for me to expect it =P
