Is 2008 the year of PS3

To my mind the generation finishes when the first next gen console is released.

The PS3 may well be around for 10 years but it wont be a viable race (ie A race with competitors) for more than 5.

 

There is no chance in hell that if Microsoft and Nintendo release their next concoles around 2011, 2012 Sony will wait till 2016 to release their next console.  That would be suicidal.  There is no 10 year plan.  That is bullshit Sony PR to go with all their other bullshit PR.  PS2 has not even been around for 10 years and look at how much its sales have dropped this year.  And we are talking about the most successful console ever.  Imagine how much of a struggle it would be for PS3 to sell more than 10 units in 2016 when there is a Wii 2 and 720 out for years.  But if it were possible it would be quite amusing to see Sony fans counting and monitoring the sales of PS3 to see how much it is gaining on the total sales of Wii.
