First be sure PS3 and Xbx360 are more similar eachother than a Wii.
so PS3 is not a Wii and most of the games coming are not "sony version" of nintendo games. But u get the point about the controller.
Secondly, u should focus on games u want to play and see on which console they appear.
Third u should wait (if possible) to
- get an Xbox360 because of the failure problem. I think this winter after Halo3 release+potential price drop, it should be ok.
- get a PS3 because price is still high and a price drop may happen this winter.
Personnaly, focusing on games coming this winter and early 2008 and because I dont like Microsft (no soul/identity for me), I would purchase a PS3. I want to play Metal Gear Solid 4/Gran Turismo5/LittleBigPlanet. ==> PS3
If u want to use BlueRay too ==> PS3
But If u want to play Halo3/Mass Effect/Bioshock ==> get a Xbox360.
Same if u want the cheaper system ==> Xbox360
