I've owned the game for a couple weeks now and enjoy it.
My friends have had a lot of fun playing the game too when they have come over. Several have gone and bought the game as well based on their experience playing it.
I'd recomend a rent it if your skeptical about it, as I didn't have any of the control issues and may depend on a person by person case.
