There was PS2 revision like the slim model but :

1/ there were all the same capacity
2/ can play similarly all the game
3/ no new feature

and there was never 2 sku PS2 sold in the same time

(hope I dont say BS ...)

You did say BS...

The slimline added built in ethernet, so I'd say that counts as option 3.

The first versions of the PS2 in japan did not have the expansion bay for the internal HDD or ethernet adapter. Furthermore, these same models lacked the parts needed to decode a DVD, so you had to have some code copied to your memory card to play DVD's. Again, I'd say this counts as #3.

Different models of the PS2 also have different levels of BC, and even PS2 games. It was fairly highly publicized in the blogs when a new revision of the slimline came out that couldn't play several PS2 games at all. Same can be said of PS1 BC. I'd say this counts as #2

PS2 has no internal storage, so should #1 count? Technically, the PSX is a derivative of the PS2 that offers internal storage by default.

Essentially the PS2 has gone through many hardware revisions, just like the move to falcon with the 360. Similarly, the PS2 had the dreaded DRE fixed as I'd assume the new 360's have the RROD fixed.
