Not in my particular case. However, I would not have gotten into the current generation (at least not as early as I did), had the wii not been released. I would have stuck with my gamecube, bought a few more games, and eventually gotten a PS2 at some point (or a PS3 if it came with BC at a reasonable price near the end of the generation).
