We're doing better than expected. Instead of earning money, winning the console race, and having the best gaming library, as last gen, we're now losing money like hell, selling the least consoles, and are steadily losing games to other consoles. Go us!

How the hell can they do better than expected? They expected to lose more money than they already have? Their PR guys, who I think are morons, must be the smartest guys they have.

you fail to understand 1 thing :

in 07 , Sony has done worst than predicted and they even had to reduce the price by 100$ (40gb) t-o save the PS3 boat.

but in 08, they have lowered a lot their prediction taking in count (finally) that PS3 was quite expensive and, du to the early price drop, that they were losing more money on it than expected !!!

So, compared to their 08 prediction (that u can find somewhere but I dont know where), the sales numbers are possibly better than expected.

(to say it differently, they have made a lower scale prediction for 08 than 07 so they will not have to say "we are not able to follow our prediction like in 07" and they will able to say "we are selling better than predicted")

At the end, matching or not your prediction is not so important.

Ahh, of course. Their 07 prediction. I thought he was talking about their prediction before PSWii launch.
