If you don't like a thread, report it and let it go. If there's nothing to report, just don't read the thread. It's really not that hard.
As for the blog feature, Destructoid added that and it killed their forums. If you want to make a blog go make one there (since their blogs are in fact good, I just don't want these forums to die).
