No,bum ass developers are affecting the quality of games.

Sonys nba game is doing 1080p at 60fps, Ea just sucks.

First of all as freedquaker says its the publishers that are the problem. If the developer is given a short time frame, they either have to cut corners or lose the job to a development house that will do what is necessary to get the game out by the publishers deadline.

Secondly, its foolish to compare a football game to basketball game. A football game has to render a larger stadium, 22 players, referees, and the coaches/players on the sidelines. There are more football players on one teams sideline than their are basketball players on a court. A baskeball game has to render a small arena, 10 players, referees, and coaches/players on the sidelines. An NBA roster has 10 players, and NFL roster has 53, do the math Hus.

Also, All Pro Football 2K8 also runs at 60fps on 360 and 30fps on PS3. In other words, the PS3's architecture is not completely blameless in this situation. Factor 5 is having frame rate issues with Lair and Factor 5 is most definitely NOT lazy.

Whatever, quality is lacking its both their faults.

Wow such a big big differece, that explains it all. So Ea is doing with a football stadium and 53 characters, what F5 is doing 32km by 32km levels with thousands troops and hundredths of dragons. But wait Lair is at 1080p, Madden is not.

Lair had issues, and they were solved.

Each team has 53 players. There are two teams on the field. Granted the sideline players have lower poly models but you have 22 high poly models on the field pull the referee crew and each teams coach is a high poly model. Then on the sidelines you have 42 players per team, cheerleaders for the home team, and then the stadium and the crowd.

My comparison was to your comment about NBA07 on PS3 running at 1080p. I only brought up Lair because you said the game running at a lower frame rate on PS3 was purely due to developer laziness. The fact that Lair has framerate issues with an engine built from the ground up on PS3 shows that the PS3 architecture is to blame as much as the publishers/developers. Unlike other titles sports titles have to be out by certian date because a delay beyond the season means the gave has to wait another full year to be released.
