40GB PS3!!!!! lol j/k

It might be 20gb ps3's but they are selling them for $449.99, I hope it is the 40gb ps3 because it will spring sales up very fast.

I would actually argue the complete opposite ...

"I wonder if Sony can win back user support by the price cut of just $100," Kazumi Kitaue, the head of Konami's North American and European operations, told Reuters in an interview ahead of this week's Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, video game industry trade show.

"I don't expect a substantial impact," Kitaue said. "With $500, you can buy a personal computer."

When you combine low sales, unsure publishers and rapid price drops it will only give the impression that things are so bad that Sony has become desperate.

Hehe...I'm buying a $500 computer this month actually. A dual-core AMD processor, 2 gigs of ram, an x800 graphics card, crossfire capability...300 gb of storage I think...
All in all I think it's a good purchase...for $500 I can afford to get a better graphics card later, or perhaps a second x800...
Much more valuable to me than a PS3.

Ok sorry but...

C2D > a Dual-Core AMD.
Nvidia > ATi (ATi has no support for linux, and has horrible drivers compared to NVidia)

Yup.

There's a Ubuntu Dell system I'm getting for my buddy in a few weeks, that kicks some serious ass.

I priced a C2D E6700, cheapest I saw was $317. I can get a Dual Core Athlon 6000+ for $150. The performance difference between those two CPUs is marginal and I can take the extra $170 and put it towards more RAM or better monitor, or better Graphics card, etc.

As for the ATI vs. Nvidia issues. The ATI driver issues are overblown. My Radeon 9600 only gave me one issue which I resolved quickly. The card I had prior to it. GeForce 4600 fried my whole system. I had to replace everything except my RAM. It cooked my motherboard, fused my power supply connector to my motherboard, and took out my CPU. Does that mean Nvidia makes crap? Nope. I just had a dud. In fact the Asus GeForce N6800 I'm running now has given me no problems. If my attitude towards Nvidia was the same those who have written ATI off after a prior bad experience, I would have never picked up my 6800.
