The problem I have with that is that the PS2 version of a game often outsells the Wii version as well. So while that may be a factor in why the HD consoles move so many units, it doesn't necessarily explain why the Wii moves comparatively few. No, I still favor the reasons I outlined above.
Consider this: despite having only a fraction of the sales it used to, the PS2 version remains quite front-loaded, displaying a similar pattern to the HD console versions' sales. This tells me that the PS2's version is built of many of the same people as the HD versions, an audience who does not yet favor the Wii. But I admit that the data are open to other interpretations as well.
