Last sunday I went to an EB games shop with my girlfriend to buy games for her Nintendo DS. While in front of the DS games, a 17 or 18 years old salesman came and asked us if we need some help.  My girlfriend wanted to buy a point and click game like Ace Attorney and asked the salesman if they received some good feedbacks on those kind of games and which one is the best. Much to my astonishment the salesman replied that people in general didn't give him feedback on DS and Wii games because ''those consoles aren't very popular''.

Stunned by his answer I informed him that Wii and DS are the most popular console and that the Wii sold much better than PS3 or X360. The guy replied that it was because asian countries are buying Wii massively and that in NA Wii is still less popular than X360 or PS3. Then I advised him to consult a site named VG Chartz and told him that Wii outsell PS3 long time ago and X360 too. The guy didn't believe me and his partner who heard our conversation tell him I was right and that Wii is selling better than any other consoles. The guy also said that Wii Fit was'nt so popular because they're only receiving 1 or 2 by week and this is why it is hard to find in store and it was the same for the Wii. BTW there was a guy buying a Wii at the cash and he said that it was an exception.

Finally my girlfriend decided to buy a game named Hotel Dusk : Room 215 (any feedbacks for this game anyone?) and while we were waiting at the cash, the same salesman was arguing with a customer about how the X360 was the best console on the market while the customer highly praised the PS3, saying X360 was just good to play Fable 2.

What lesson can we learn from this story? Wii and DS are selling while X360 and PS3 are fighting each others for the crumbs. :P

Do you guys think that some biased salesman can impact on the choices of the customers? Do you believe there is a lot of fanboys who does'nt want to see the real situation of the market? What are your opinions?
