The price cuts over the 3 models is a farce.

The 360 has been on the market for 20 months without a price cut and now they are cutting the price by a paltry $50 on the premium, $30 on the Elite and only $20 for the Core. It's a bit of a joke to be honest.

I would have thought a more realistic price cut would have been $50 minimum for the Core bringing it down to $249, on a par with the Wii. $70-$100 for the Premium with $299-$329 being a better price bracket for the Premium and a whole $80 for the Elite bringing it down to $399.

They will get more sales because of the price cut, but not much more and it certainly IMHO will not have the same results that we have just seen with the PS3.

What happens WHEN Nintendo reduce the price of the Wii. I know that this won't happen anytime soon, but I wouldn't be surprised if they reduced the Wii to $199 by early 2008 at the latest.

I expect Halo 3 to be the catalyst for more sales of the 360, not this paltry reduction. Also, MS have missed a huge opportunity, big time. They should have waited until just before Halo was coming out or just after, then reduce the different 360's by decent amounts....this could have seriously damaged the PS3 sales and even had a little bite of the Wii sales.

But what they have done...is slightly narrow the gap between Wii and 360 sales for a short while, then the Wii will take off again and overtake the 360 and will be easily 3m+ more WW sales by the end of the year.

It's either a case of too little too late or not being serious enough.
