...And until the basic PS3 package is the same price as an Arcade or 60GB model, then it doesn't compare to the X360. See what I just did?

Putting it at the same price level doesn't mean it will make them both equal in the market. Some people want the extra additional features that the Elite has. The Arcade is limited to people's needs. It is a great system for kids because they don't have to be technically advanced to play a game or worry about wireless, uploading and downloading things, and making friends online, they just play the game.
For those casual and hardcore gamers, they would want these if they had friends but also need to think about it......"Hey if I buy the Arcade model, it won't have online, how can I chat with my friends? and if I need to chat with my friends... I also have to pay for online and also the fact it doesn't have a hard drive so I can't store my favorite music or movies onto there" then they will consider paying more for the console than just $199 because they need those additional features. The 360 is worth it for the games but the cheaper models lack features and is just plain for those simple gamers but not the casual/hardcore.
I don't see why PS3 need to lower it to the Arcade model to prove a point. Also with all those great features, you can't sell it at $199. It is just too good to be true. Ask yourself, if you are a gamer and have don't have a 360 , would you get the arcade or Elite? I would get the Elite.
