At this stage in the 360's lifecycle I'd damn well expect it to be shooting away sales wise from the PS3, cos it's half the price of the PS3 (UK : £129 360 Arcade vs £299 PS3). If it wasn't, well they'd be no hope for it.

This holiday season MS will have used up all their ammo with the 360 - price is as low as it can really go without being in bargin bin territory, Gears 2, Fable 2 etc etc. PS3 meanwhile still has room for price cuts and still has some big hitters in it's arsenal - KZ2, GT5 etc. for next year (of course, MS could annouce Halo 4 for next year!).

I look forward to revisiting this thread post Xmas to see how big a lead the 360 gets, if it doesn't pull away significantly then 360 will end up on 3rd place by the end of the gen.

This is rediculous. No evidence to show that PS3 will pass it. All speculation. As for you saying no games left?

Lets look.

........

Yep 360 has no high budget high profile games left????? Gues I'd better sell up.

There's no evidence to say it won't either (PS3 pass the 360 that is). At this stage it's too early to say.

Yes, you quoted a list of games the 360 will get next year. Well done. I was referring to big francies, proven system sellers, games that'll grab the guy off the street and want to make him (or her) buy a 360 as opposed to the PS3 (or Wii for that matter). Halo 3, Gears 2 and Fable 2 (although dunno whether this'll be a system seller) were the big MS guns. The likes of Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake and all that aren't likely to resonate with the general population as much and pull new gamers to the 360 all by themselves.

I am largely platform agnostic. I fail to understand why some people get overly fanboyish about what is an inanimate piece of electronics that's obsolete even before it's launched, when there are far more important things to champion, such as preventing environmental destruction or preventing millions of people dying unnecessarily from illnesses. This fact however, doesn’t mean I am not someone who doesn’t enjoy gaming as a pastime (as I have done for the last 20 years) or doesn’t have a strong interest in how the market is evolving – hence my presence on this site.

Platforms owned – PC, DS, X-Box 360, PS3, PSP and Wii.
