| shams said: Just when people assumed that PS3 > 360 (WW), and it was a matter of time before PS3 overtakes the 360... the 360 bites back - and hard. Outselling the PS3 in *every* territory, and a 60k lead for a single week is quite a lot. This Xmas is really important for the PS3, because this time it has to stand on its own software legs (NO PRICE CUT!) - and has real competition from the 360. This is why, in many ways LBP is now one of the most important titles this generation for Sony. We know it will get good scores, we know it will "sell well" - but will it become the smash hit Sony desperately needs this Xmas for the PS3 (and sell hardware?). (its also telling that the Wii is still significantly > 360, even with the lower price point, new software... although at this stage, 50% marketshare just will NOT happen this year) |
LBP will be the new IP Sony is hoping will gain the mainstream appeal that other new IP this gen has (current leaders are Wii Sports/Play and Gears).
And yes I agree this Xmas is very important for PS3 because its PS2's last Xmas. I wouldnt be surprised if the normal EA/Activision annual games are no longer on the PS2 next year. I think this Xmas, a much bigger audience will be making a decision on which current gen console to get.
