while i agree with u in one respect, in the past games have not sold as expected on the ps3. but u have to understand fable 2 sequal and its an rpg. it has its own specifically defined genre it may be excellent. Fable 2 has its audience, not everyone likes rpgs, and not everyone who likes rpgs likes wrpgs. LBP is something new, its fresh theres nothing like it, sony is marketing the crap out of it. ive played the beta, and can't really fault it as a game it gets a 10/10 from me purely because it has endless play, and it builds a community of friends. u heart players levels they heart urs, u play on there lvls they play on urs. they send u new items etc etc u get the point. i know fable has 4 player co-op or will be implemented thats a good thing, but does the game benifit really from playing with others? i dont know u tell me ive only seen some of the stuff. LBP truely shines when playing with others. u miss so much if u only play alone. so yeah if ur comparing sales wth any other generic ps3 title good or bad id agree with u but imo LBP is going either way. HUGE SUCCESS or BIG FLOP, and considering the budget of this game compared to previous ps3 games..... My money is on HUGE SUCCESS ;) |
I don't know ... there are a lot of things which make me question the sales prospects of Little Big Planet. Games like Heavenly Sword and Uncharted had huge marketing budgets, were heavily hyped, and suited the existing userbase of the PS3 far more than Little Big Planet does and yet they never sold that amazingly well.
On top of that, one of the things that causes me to doubt the performance more than anything else is that the people I know who own PS3 systems seem to not know or care about Little Big Planet. I know several people who own PS3 systems who would be classified as DINKs (Dual Income No Kids) or DILDOS (Dual Income Little Dog Only) who tend to have an amzingly ammount of disposable income to buy toys; the games these people seem interested in is Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour, Resistance 2, and Call of Duty World at War.
I don't expect that people are going to spend $400 on a system to buy a single game when the rest of the library seems completely uninteresting to them, and I don't see people who are currently drooling over what the PS3 offers really buying this game in high quantities.
I could be wrong, but I expect this game to have a very dedicated following rather than a very large userbase.
