Sony should definitely act sooner rather than later IMHO
One problem is the "oh I'll get one coz me mates got one" effect. It snowballs.
Last thing Sony needs is all the spotty herberts in the world deciding that the value Xbox 360 with cheap second hand games is a good group purchase for online social gaming.
Once a school playground population hits a critical mass of ownership all others tend to follow the crowd.
Sony lost a year already they cannot stand by and lose another holiday season.
