I am not so sure it is entirely Nintendo holding back Wii stock (though they will be somewhat) I think the stores are having some of the say in when Wii units are let out.
Also Nintendo might be ging for a record Christmas quarter, for which they would hold back till October.
Regarding the DS... beastly as usual.
