They recalled the power cable not the actual console. And it went like this: everyone that had already registered their console was sent a new power cable in the mail without having to do anything. People who didn't register simply had to go to their website and put their address and xbox serial number in to receive one. You then got a new slightly different cable in the mail with a note attached saying to throw out the old power cable.
