Animal Crossing on the Gamecube (A new IP outside of Japan) managed just short of 4 million.... and in Japan it was the 2nd best selling GC game just short of 1 million (1 in 4 GC owners)
Perhaps it won't get the huge sales of the DS version, which will likely exceed 10 million this Christmas, but I am pretty sure it will far exceed the GC version.

 

 

Hmm, I'm not sure it will far exceed that mark. Not a prediction, just a guess. I think the Wii is an entirely different deomgraphic, but really that guess is based on Galaxy selling 7 million and my assumption that AC will sell far less than that. I'd say 5 maybe, I doubt 6, but again, just a guess. I haven't really researched the subject, and again I could be underestimating that game, and LBP.

Well ok...But I'd say Wii is selling to a very similar set of people as the DS (Wii is kind of a mix of GC, PS2 and DS in terms of fanbase)... and AC:WW has been enormous on the little handheld. There is the argument that the game favours portability over playing at home, which may mean it falls short of AC:WW sales, but I can guarantee you it will pass 6 million eventually.
