Since you said that you miss mario and link from the N64 days I presume that you didn't have a gamecube.
As the wii is backwards compatible you'll be getting 2 consoles in 1. you can also get zelda: wind waker and mario sunshine which were classics on the GC Plus you can get zelda TP and mario galaxy on wii.
and plus the wii has a downloadable libary of nes, snes, n64, sega ect games. So as you like mario and zelda, you also could get the really older ones too.
Plus if you get a wii, you will feel complete by having pswii360 :)
