Wow ,that shows how wrong you are.Look ,I have two careers and gaming isnt but one of my main interests,and for sure not the one I put more passion into.I didnt even own a PS2 and was a proud Xbox and Game Cube owner.This generationm ,though ,I like the PS3 better.For me it offers the best of two worlds(core gaming and casual offerings) and it is (again for me) the best machine around.Other things like its use of free software(OpenGL ,Linux,Java,free online,etc)and the compatibility with PC accesories (instead of expensive official accesories) only makes my sympathy for it further.I usually own all the machines each generation,and I will probably buy a 360 sometime just to play some of the exclusive games.
I think the PS3 is a great machine,it has a great catalogue already (and it will have one of the better catalogues ever once all is said and done)and it sells good amounts of software for its userbase.I think it will sell better and better each year ,too.
As for the other machines I appreciate the 360 for some of its exclusive games and may be getting one at some point in the future but I dislike the online fees so probably wont enter Live.The Wii ,though ,I dont like it so much.For me it hasnt offered what Nintendo promised,its technically very lacking and aside Smash ,Mario Galaxy and Metroid 3(iterations of Cube games that werent so inferior )its best games are ports of PS2 and Game Cube games .
Now in this page I have some dillemma ,because there are lots of Wii fans and being a sales site everything that matters seems to be sales .Nobody is denying the Wii is selling by the bucketloads.But I think its also clear ,and other posters seems to agree with me ,that it isnt the PS2 succesor some are wishing it was.It wont get the best games ,its technically very far away from the other machines ,its online is lacking ,the controls are not for each and every game genre ,it wont get the main series anytime soon ,the list goes on.If you look at the Top 50 sales for Wii and DS its clear what you see ...the Nintendo franchises ,the new no-games and shovelware.
I dont have any problem with the Wii being in the market and covering this spot for casual gaming and gimmicky atraction.It will have too some solid core offerings.The problem comes when the Wii fans try to impose this as the only future available "because of the sales".They dont accept a no for response.
As for the sales at least we agree on something.We have seen vast differencies in the Top Ten between NPD and vgchartz.And Vgchartz sometimes have changed their numbers and sometimes ...not.A good example is the Madden data for the PS3 in August...were NPD had for US only 650K..and vgchartz still has it under 700K for august and september with all america combined.I feel that if the Top Ten numbers are so screwed up sometimes the games with range 50-200 (and the site tracks even more) can have differences so big that we are talking over thin air if we are to use those numbers.
Now ,again in the subject I see the PS3 version of TFU beating the Wii one in each and every "official" chart we have had access to.Germany ,UK ,Spain ,Sweden ,you name it.In some of those countries the Wii has about the same difference in userbase with the PS3 ,as Germany and UK.Yet the PS3 version outsold the Wii one.I only remarked this.I think its a logic remark.But the wii fan horde resident here cant stand such a remark with the usual"lol for you everything is undertracked" " you hate the Wii" " wii hater" etc...something really boring and really really old now that we talk about this.
