Well the more realistic you get, the more some people will complain that it's too boring and not artistic enough. Many of us would prefer to see different worlds or different artistic representations of our world in videogames, rather than just a game that tried to look as close to our world as possible.
That being said, "realism" and being "kiddy" are in no way connected. MP3 was not realistic, TP was not realistic, No More Heroes was not realistic, and those would hardly be considered "kiddy" games.
I have nothing against The Conduit, and I've been waiting eagerly for it, and I'm sure there are many great artistic features in the game, but those screens you showed seemed a little lacking. |
I have to say the term ''kiddy'' was abused, but I couldn't find another word for it. I know artistic looking games are more appealing to certain people, but look at TimeShift, or Resistance: Fall of Man, or any other FPS that have cities and bunkers and libraries as locations. These games sold to a certain demographic of people that prefer ''realism'' and ''real-time physics,'' and they barely featured any ''artistic'' things in the game other than the special weapons and enemies you're confronting (maybe you can also add locations in there). It depends how you define realism really. I'm sure The Conduit will feature a lot of different environments, the museum might only be one of the more ''dull'' ones.
If The Conduit can at least succeed in bringing these ''HD'' gamers in, then I believe HVS will be pleased.

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...
