You might be right about one thing. It's too early to get into the specifics of this probably fake news. However, if it is true, you guys can skip talking about it, and just go read my last post, lol. I tried to cover everything(and that's not a double negative before you point it out).
So yes, in theory, if a company did do something like that, it would be a powerplay for userbase. The 360 would benefit particularly, because it would do very well to remove the RRoD stigma related to the console, and a slim reworked version would do that, as well as give advertising buzz for its relatively new low price, upcoming games, and the redesign itself, imo.
