I thought that Edgeworth made a good return to his old idealism once "that" incident was sorted out at the end of the first, which culminated in his participation in Case 3-5.

Speaking of Case 3-5, Godot turned out to be one of the coolest characters in the entire series when all the events of that particular murder unravelled. It helps that T&T probably had the best music in the entire series.
