Montana, I'm sorry stickball offended you by insulting Disgaea 3. D3 is a fantastic game. I've actually played a large chunk of it.
However, you shouldn't take it out on his game. If you'd played ToV, you would probably believe(as most others that have played it do) that it's the best jrpg this gen, on any console(even the DS). Better than FFIV, better than TWEWY, better than LO. Now, that certainly is an opinion, and if someone wants to refute it, that's fine(anyone who has played ToV probably wont).
However, insinuating that ToV is somehow mediocre or not absolutely great(which I don't think you've done, but just in case), is just talking trash. If you played it, you would be convinced.
My take: It's not just the best jrpg on the 360 by a huge margin imo, I'd actually rank it as the 3rd best jrpg on the PS2 were it on that console. It's without a doubt the best Tales game. Period. Gamespot also stated as much in their glowing review. All you need do is read a couple of reviews, or just go to gametrailers to get a better look. LO sucks compared to ToV, lol, not even close games. One of them is above average and the other one is the best Tales game yet released and one of the best jrpgs.
Now, there has been tons of discussion on the subject in other topics, and right here I couldn't even breach the topic, but I will give you my conclusion about gamerankings:
You can't tell if a game is better or worse than another, comparatively, simply by going by the review scores on gamerankings. You need to keep in mind the time of release, the text in said reviews, the number of reviews, and many other factors. What is a far better indication of a niche game like this, or Disgaea 3, is to go to the gamefaqs message board and read the userreviews.
As for Tales of Vesperia. It's probably the best user-reviewed game this generation(by user reviews, not polls). Go to those message boards and ask how good the game is, and then go to LO and ask them how good it is. You'll get your answer then. I can tell you, ToV is gonna win by a mile.
Now I can present to you proof that you can't always go by average reviews, which you already know, but you just inadvertantly used them in responding to another user which also used them:

Bullshite! What retarded monkey did they let review that game!?
Now, I wish we could all know if a game is great or bad, just by pulling up a page and looking at a number. It's convinient and easy to use in arguments. However, in the end it is a bullcrap and meaningless number, dominated by far too many X factors to be of any importance.
OT:
The game I recommend is Tales of Vesperia. It's the best jrpg on the 360 by lightyears, and one of my favorite jrpgs of all time. I've played nearly every jrpg on the PS2 to completion, and every one on the 360. I've also played every jrpg on the DS, and I feel that ToV is better than FFIV, and it's also better than TWEWY, even though they were both great games. The two best srpgs this gen are Disgaea 3 and Radiant Dawn. I've completed most of D3, and all of RD. I've got a 92 hour game save on ToV and just started a new game plus, and a 32 hours end game save on Lost Odyssey.
The worst jrpg I've played this gen, is probably the vastly over-rated Eternal Sonata. It's shallow and contains no character development. If we're talking in a time frame of "next gen" Persona 3 FES challenges ToV as the best game, and is my personal 3rd best jrpg on the PS2. If ToV was on PS2, imho, FES would fall to fourth.
Here is a fair and accurate non-fanboy review of the game that I suggest potential purchasers glance over before deciding.
I hope you are happy with whichever game you choose.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
