I think Super Mario 3 with improved graphics was better and I much prefer Super Mario World over previous versions also due to the added colors and much better overall graphics.

There was an All Stars remake of early Mario games on the Snes with improved graphics, I preferred the new versions.

Yeah, and SMB had good graphics when it came out.
