Actually, Miyamoto is an artist, and a damn good one at that. Before Super Mario Bros., the people who designed game graphics were mostly the programmers - and programmers and artistry often don't mix. One of the reasons why SMB was so revolutionary is because it was the first game designed with visual artistry in mind. It first showed the world that games have the potential to be art.



"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."
