The reasons Gebx listed are very valid ones and there are others as well. Every console game before it's released is sent to the console manufacturer who then does additional QA testing of their own to ensure that the game is ready for release. There is no such thing with games on PC so we have to rely on the game developers word that the game is not just a beta being rushed out the door. So when you buy a console game you can expect it to work properly on your system and not expect to encounter any serious problems (corrupted graphics, major crashes, etc).

Also it's hard to compare PC and Console games because the experience can vary so much for the PC game. For example if you don't have good hardware you may not even get an experience comparable to the version on console so for those who always say the PC experience is superior that may be true for high end systems but may not be for the far more common lower end systems (systems with onboard video for example).
