IMO, I think 60% of the reason the Wii is selling so well is the price, not the software or controller.

So why did their previous consoles sell so much worse than the Wii? The same for other previous consoles from other companies.

Because the other console (PS) was about the same price not $300 more expensive. Note that the most expensive console was the Saturn and look what happened to that despite its early release. The PS also appealed to people who liked having CDs as the media, for various unsaid reasons.

When you read my post, it should be obvious that I'm telling you to compare it with cheaper consoles, no? Or are you saying the Wii is the cheapest console ever? BTW, the PS is not a Nintendo console as far as I know...

Maybe Im a bit slow but where in the following quote do you state to compare to "cheaper consoles?"

You do state clearly "consoles from other companies" so what are you talking about regarding the PS not being a nintendo console?

The Wii is the cheapest console this generation by a huge margin. This large margin crippled MS and Sony sales. If the Wii was priced similarly to the others (even if it was technologically better) the current generation would be very different and the Wii would not be winning even with WiiSport/Fit/Play.
