No, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas DID sell more than 12 million units in five months, and that's a record Mario Kart Wii won't beat. And even if Mario Kart Wii miraculary hits 12 million in 12 months, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas mighty 12 million sales in 5 months will put it to shame.

Perhaps it shipped 12 million in 5 months, but that would mean you are comparing shipped numbers to the sales figures of Mario Kart and GTAIV.

Wait, what games are you talking about? That's just ridiculous.

MKWii is the best legged non-bundled console game since 2000 (we don't have data for NES and SNES, and some of the Mario games there are probably better) - it's selling totally steady in Others (had a 6 week stroke of increases over 15 weeks after release). It's been in the top 10 in Japan since April! (Well, 1 or 2 weeks have been off). In Americas it's not doing awesome, but it might end up in the top 10 of the console games this gen when all is said and done.

Well, to put it simple.

Mario Kart Wii is going to be the 2nd best selling console game in Japan for 2008, behind Wii Fit.

Mario Kart Wii is going to be the 2nd (maybe 3rd) best selling console game in Americas for 2008, behind Smash Bros. Brawl

Mario Kart Wii is going to be the best selling (maybe second) best selling console game in Others for 2008, perhaps behind Wii Fit.

Mario Kart Wii had the about 10-20th best launch of 2008.

How can the title not have legs?
