Well, since you posted a anecdotal "I walked into a shop"... I'll gladly retort with experiences from Belgium:
I walked into the 5 biggest shops / game shops over here, and Xbox / PS3 and WII were all there in plenty of numbers. Didn't seem like any of the game systems sold at all. Stacked mile high...
Wii at 235
PS3 at 399
Xbox at its new price point + additional 40 euro's off the price after visiting a certain website.
It would seem no game systems sold at all over here...
Can someone give me a short, relatively "objective" summary of why the PS3 does so well in EU/Others?
Well, I can only speak for Belgium:
Most people here only talk about PS3 and only think about purchasing a PS3 in the upcoming months / years.
Playstation name + Xbox RroD (which DOES have its impact) + "we pay for quality" (a elusive concept, but combine it with the RROD and you have a bigger clue) are probably not to be underestimated as factors
