Red Steel was an above average game really. The problem was the game was rushed to be a launch title.
There are 3 things very wrong with Red Steel, but all 3 things are easily fixed at this moment in the Wii's lifetime:
1. Clunky controls. Metroid and Medal of Honor, and now Call of Duty and The Conduit are showing good Wii controls easily surpass analog controls for the FPS genre. Ubisoft just needs to copy The Conduit's control model.
2. No online multiplayer. Ubisoft already confirmed online for Red Steel 2.
3. Low quality graphics. Red Steel 1 didn't support any kind of dynamic lightning effect, no bump mapping, had terrible weapon models and even then it had a terrible framerate. We all know the Wii is able to produce some tasty graphics running at 60 (or at least 30) frames solid. Shouldn't be too hard considering the size of Ubisoft as a developer.
