People still have a choice..

The bulk of high profile modern computer software is Windows exclusive, Apple Mac is still a viable option for newbies. Sad although Microsoft works heavily against easy portability towards other systems, the bulk of PC is high level easy portable software.

For a platform like Amiga, all odds are against it. It's such a fun OS to use, but the amount of time and effort required to re-engineer PC hardware drivers and try to re-architect very un-Amiga-like software for the ultra efficient but barebones AmigaOS is an enormous challenge.

I guess AmigaOS could anyway have a restart easier than Linux in its early years, as now, with the source code available, it could have OOo, Gimp, and so on, a complete set of indispensable SW tools. And there is Wine too that could plug holes in the same measure it does for other OS'.

What AmigaOS really needs, IMVHO, is to market its exclusive features as effectively as Apple does with its own, and if they are different enough from Apple ones, it could bite another chunk off Windows share of the pie. Just don't let Ballmer know your plans too early, his reaction could kill you all. With laughs. Or with chairs.
