I may be a "narrow" minded 14 year old, but I can prove it, you may believe me if you wish. My school has a population 4000 students. I have about 350 myspace friends, I asked 80 of my school friends what they would want if they can have any system, roughly 60% chose the ps3, and 30% chose the 360 with only 10% picking the wii. As for myspace friends I even have a poll on my myspace, they can vote and 56% of the votes went to the ps3, about 42% went to the 360, and 2% went for wii. Again I have no little kids as friends on my myspace, nor adults, just teens. Though I cannot find the site, but I think madden appeals most to the teenaged community, not the younger audience(to which most of the wii's install base is) nor the mature audience meaning ages 22+ |
Madden appeal to teenage and adult males the most. A lot of people want a PS3 but either 1) Can't afford it 2) Can afford it but doesn't see the value of it 3) Are still dependent on their parents to buy it for them and therefore falling back into 1 or 2 |
The first point I would contest, as wealthier, more affluent families are generally purchasing the Wii, not the PS3 (which is odd, as you'd figure that poorer families would be unable to purchase the PS3, and therefore would buy a Wii as proxy). Otherwise, I agree. |
Just because wealthy families that can afford the PS3 are buying the Wii doesn't mean there aren't people out there that want a PS3 but can't afford it I have a buddy now that's working 2 jobs just to pay his mortgage and pay off his debt and student loans, the only next-gen console he wants is a PS3 but he can't afford it right now on his salary, he falls right into number 1.
