Do you think the 360 version is going to get a second "launch month" type sales when the full bundle comes out next month? I know there's a lot of people that couldn't buy this because it was only the game and you have to have the first Rock Band which puts a limit on the number of copies it could sell in it's current form. Even though it's the type of game that sells good for months and months, maybe it will have a better than usual second month. |
Yes. I don't know if they will be as high as this week (again, I argue 400k this week), since the bundle is such a big investment, but I think we could see Rock Band 2 re-launch to around 200,000-250,000 when it launches with everything else.
What will be REALLY NEAT is seeing how many people go out, when Rock Band 2 fully launches, and buys a NEW copy of Rock Band. Theoretically, since you will always be able to merge RB 1 songs, it could go on to sell millions of extra copies by new Rock Band 2/3/4 owners in the future.
Talk about an evergreen strategy. Nintendo should take a look at what Harmonix is doing - They are insuring that by servicing early adopters of Rock Band 1, that the sold equipment and discs can still be used, therefore the discs (for RB 1) will always need to be bought.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
