Blu-Ray will be around for a while for a few reasons.
not everyone has high speed internet or even access to it. Direct downloads only cuts the total number of people who can buy the movie, game ect..
1 blu ray disc is, or will be very soon, cheaper than 2 DVD's to manufacture. This doesn't mean anything to the consumer but this is a big deal to the manufacturers.
As with all electronics, the price will drop. It won't be long before you can get a br player for $150.00
