I don't know what Mario Kart you're looking at, but it's not dropping 8-10% a week. As far as legs go, it's about as good as any game is going to get.
As much as I like SMG, it's simply something that most casuals aren't as interested in. The controls aren't anywhere near as intuitive as MK. You're flat out wrong if you think SMG will outlast MK.
