| Soriku said: @Xeta Yeah...but I'm talking about series. Chrono has...2 games but one isn't even considered a good sequel :P It really isn't a series like the rest. |
The post you "fixed" stated the rule applied to all RPGs. You made no effort to fix it. The game doesn't have FF/DQ/KH/Pokemon/Tales in its name...hell, it was a new IP...yet it had massive sales in Japan. In fact, if I recall correctly its week 1 sales were listed as over 800k in Japan (before the game mysteriously disappeared from the database). Now THAT is easily more impressive than your little Tales games. :P
Besides, this topic is about a new IP. Excluding new IPs from the list makes no sense at all.
EDIT: I did a database search. Here are some RPG games that sold over 700k in Japan.
Monster Hunter Freedom games (I remember DMJ saying they're not RPGs, but I trust the database more than him, so...)
Seiken Densetsu games
Super Mario RPG
Romancing SaGa games
SaGa Frontier
Parasite Eve
Megaman EXE 4 (debateable whether it's an RPG, but I like the series so it gets in my list)
Xenogears
Mother 2
Mystical Warrior Saga 3 (I never even HEARD of this game until now...)
Star Ocean: Second Story
So yeah, very flawed statement.
NOTE: When I was making this list, I saw Chrono Trigger in the database...weird. I could have sworn it disappeared...but I guess its being back in the database is a good thing.
