I have 20 discs, 7 VC titles and I'll probably buy a couple more discs and maybe some more VC titles depending on what is released. I haven't bought any WiiWare games yet but I'm waiting for that first game to really grab my interest.

You can do either method. You can buy it from Nintendo through the Wii with a credit card or go to the store and buy it there in any payment type, cash, credit, etc.
I'll come up with something better eventually...
