You know, Resistance 2 does look great. By no means does the game look bad or even just good. It's a great looking game.
But do you really know why Gears 2 looks better?
The environments that I saw in that video just look so much more real. There are particles going off everywhere. Something is always moving. When a shot hits a brick rubble flies off and when a shot hits dirt dirt flies up. Their particles are simply amazing and you rarely just see flat ground or walls. Resistance 2 is just full of those.
From what I've seen on Resistance in that video everything is just really static and doesn't move much. There aren't always particles moving, the shot effects on the environment aren't anything special, and the environment doesn't do a lot to draw me in the game.
That all said, I would much rather reserve any kind of real judgment until both games are released.
Also, why must every youTube video maker force us to listen to their terrible music?

And that bit he talked about at 2:55, I doubt that's all real environment. I betcha a lot of that is a mixture of skyboxes and things you'll never ever get close to. Still great looking but not a lot special.
