I hate FPS on consoles. And I rarely play PC anmore, so the last FPS I played was probably Quake 3. Still, it's a stellar genre, but I think it only suits itself for the mouse and keyboard, and that's probably one reason why Japan doens't like FPS much, they don't play much PC. A genre that is predominant on the PC market won't do well there. I don't think RTS-games do well there, either.
