The basic premise of Namco's statements is that like much of popular entertainment, games have become too tied to their time periods, too tempo-centric. They are servicable but don't age well.
It's like TV shows. Everyone remembers the shows from the 1950s (the good ones). But what is like when you turn on Nick at Nite now and see 1980s and 1990s sitcoms -- you go "Ugh."
Games are the same way. A few will stand the test of time. Many of those classics have been sited. One thing both SMG and MGS4 have in common is that neither takes place in the here-and-now. By not locking the games into the present, they are much more memorable.

I am Mario.I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |
