I have been a gamer since atari 2600 and the Wii currently does not satiate my gamer appetite especially considering I have had every main console every generation(except saturn) and gaming PCs along the way.

To be brutally honest the people touting the Wii as the best this gen has to offer and denouncing the HD consoles/pc gaming are young ones. It's no suprise that almost all the HD consoles owners are older almost always of legal age while Wii fans are younger still in junior high/beginning highschool and It really does explain why the Wii sells so well.

Tl;dr I'll get and keep a Wii in 09 if motion+ delivers on what the Wii promised at launch.

 

Sorry but your post is full of assumptions based on some personal experiences and has little to do with truth. You saying young people are touting wii to be the best? Well i would recommend going trough profiles of Wii owners on this website, and there are as many wii owners aged 18+ as the PS360 owners, i think the loudest fanboys this generation are the young and extremely enthusiastic HD consoles fans,claiming their console supremacy over the other HD console, and trying to prove to everyone that Wii is a kiddy console for casualz and soccer moms.

Let's Continue, you think people are buying wii for Wii sports only ? That's weird because Wii sells more software at the moment then the HD twins, and there are many great games coming soon, it that was the case then hardly there would be need for releasing new titles. Do you think that 32 milion people that purchased the Wii are only "casuals" , and their wii's collect dust, right dream on.

 

To be brutally honest your post has nothing to do with reality, it's just usual biased critisism that Wii gets from people that dislike it.

 

Well if you are claming that my post is mostly nothing then anedoctal evidence I suggest you reread yours.

Second I mentioned Nintendo's main strength was their first parties(just look at sales) I never said people only buy it for wii sports, I was producing from experience,

And explain to me how it's bias when I have been a nintendo owner since their first console, I even bought a Wii and then formed my own opinion about it. So disliking something you like is bias? Can you really deny that Nintendo's success this generation doesn't have any part to do with their approach to a wide range of demographics?, Or the fact that all nintendo advertised thier first half year was just Wii sports with different age groups? It's ok you are right I am biased because I have enjoyed nintendo all these years bought their product, and came up with an opinion different then yours.
