This is just not true at all. There are multiple Democrats (such as Jimmy Carter) who have said something to the effect of "being shot down in Vietnam isn't a good qualification to be president." Then there was some dumbass at the Democratic Convention who claimed McCain "wasn't a good POW" because he refused to be given special treatment and be let go ahead of his comrades captured earlier. A real class act, these ones.
