Because in reality, they dont like it. Because of advertisements and hype even the core gamers are forced to buy the game because its the "in" thing to do. And it have appeal...
One example are the boybands, girlbands and novelty songs. Im saying about novelty songs first, novelty songs have really no good meaning, nonsense nonesensical and no point, but there are times that people make some novelty songs popular.
What about Yu Gi Oh and pokemon? again, whats the sense of it? Why everyone buys the merchandise, video games and the cards? Whats the point? because its the "in" thing to do and it have mass appeal...
Why kids and teens watch 60's Batman in that era and became a classic even that show was FULL OF CHEESE?

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.
